TANAY, RIZAL: Calinawan Cave
By: Nickson Garcia
The province of Rizal is known for its astounding mountain ranges sites with breathtaking views. For some mountaineers and roadtrippers, it has become a destination for those who wants a quick escape from the city and be one with nature. Apart from its mountains, there are also other tourism sites that travelers should visit. One of which is Calinawaan Cave, located in the first class municipality of Tanay, Rizal.
Located at Brgy, Tandang Kutyo. It has Stalagmites, Stalactites and Columns are rampant in the cave. In fact, some Stalagmites and Stalactites were alive and eventually can form a Columns in years to come.
There are many reasons why Calinawan Cave is a must visit destination and highly recommended for beginners that even "not so young" people can enjoy it.
1. Availability of caving gears and equipment
Caving gears and equipment are necessary when caving. In Calinawan Cave, their fees already include these necessities. In caving, it is always better to be safe and secured at all times.
2. Short cave experience
Relatively, the cave experience can be done in 15 to 20 minutes depending on the cavers pace. But once inside, it is recommended to enjoy every steps and corners inside.
3. "Instagrammable" spots
Probably one of the most picture-worthy cave in the country. Inside were lively crystal-like columns, rock holes from above producing a natural effect of light from above and rocks forming into shapes and figures, that adds interest for cavers to strike a pose and create amazing cave shots. This could be a reason why several local shows shoot their tv/movie scene inside.
