Candies & Cuties: A Runway Show and Dog Adoption Drive for the Benefit of PAWSsion Project Foundation
By: Nickson Garcia
Last 6 October 2019, a runway show organized by GFR Manila by Damsel was held at One Esplanade showcasing their beautiful wedding gowns worn by the most beautiful plus-sized woman in the country for the benefit of PAWSsion Project Foundation ("Foundation")
The Foundation was founded in the year 2018 in Bacolod by Malou Perez. Putting up the foundation was not her plan as some number of dogs were scheduled to be killed. For following weeks, more and more dogs were being killed. The Foundation believes that the root cause of all of these were lack of responsible pet ownership. If we all unite to save not just 100 dogs on death row but to make a stand for animals.
Volunteer! The nearest rescue center is located at Bulacan. Yes, just an hour or two would get volunteers to their rescue center. Go there and share that love to the dogs.
Adopt! More and more dogs are waiting for families to for them to share the love and play with. Instead of buying or breeding, why not adopt these dogs? As per Malou, no payment is needed, the adopter must be willing to give it his/her all in taking care of the adopted dogs.
Donate! If one cannot volunteer or adopt, one can still help by donating financially. Maintenance and food for the shelter could be hard but with your finances, it can help them fulfill more of their needs.
Wedding Gowns by Damsel was founded by Ms. Dada Mercado, a lawyer-turned-fashion designer, in 2010 started a small fashion shop in Manila. Now, it is considered to be one of the biggest gown rentals in the country with over 6000 items that customers can chose from.
The wedding gowns were elegantly worn by plus-sized women. Looking in each and every gowns, one might noticed how beautifully crafted were the gowns made by Damsel. Getting away with the usual status quo of white gown, Damsel made their own designs and colors that may fit for any wedding themes one might chose.
